As the firm’s founder, Maurice L. Deprey, CPA, MBA has been serving the Maryland, Virginia and D.C. area since 1979. From 1969 through 1978, Mr. Deprey offered similar services in the New England region with a high concentration in computer programming and systems installation. During the preceding four years to that, Maurice served as a computer programmer/systems analyst for the United States Navy and developed the Navy’s first computerized accounting system for tracking the expenditures of temporary travel assignments of personnel.
His formal education began with the attainment of a Bachelors Degree from Bentley College, the prestigious and nationally known Accounting and Business College in Waltham, Massachusetts. Recently, Maurice decided to update and enhance his education by obtaining a Masters in Business Administration Degree from the highly respected Mount Saint Mary’s College in Emmitsburg, Maryland.
What experience does Maurice have to offer? Throughout his career, he has maintained a constant emphasis in the accounting and business management profession but has solidly blended that background with a continued interest and involvement in the highly related information technology arena. Although maintaining an accounting practice throughout those years, in varying degrees of involvement from sole practitioner through partner, he has also held significant business management positions such as Controller, Treasurer, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Information Officer, and Vice President & Business Manager, in manufacturing, service, distribution, and not-for-profit entities. In addition, Maurice has had the pleasure of teaching business related courses in area colleges during this period, and continues to enjoy doing so.
This varied experience has exposed Maurice to a variety of managerial matters including financial, personnel, facilities construction, and information technology management, as well as merger and acquisition activity, and complex financing arrangements from both business and Public Accounting perspectives.
What does his education and experience provide his clients? Maurice feels this broad and diverse background offers substantial depth of knowledge, alternatives, and understanding of a vast spectrum of matters for which individual, or small to medium sized entities, may need guidance in their financial and business endeavors.
Add to this body of knowledge the expertise of associated CPA’s, Certified Financial Planners, tax experts, attorneys practicing in various concentrations, insurance brokers, financial institutions and lenders of varying types, retirement plan administrators, a host of consultants from the academic arena, and one should readily acknowledge we are not just a “small firm”.
